Reckless Action by the EPA

Today, President Trump and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin announced the repeal of the EPA’s Endangerment Finding, which was the federal government’s scientific and legal foundation to reduce greenhouse gases and protect the air we breathe.

Repealing the Endangerment Finding will harm the people and the environment in Boulder County. This reckless decision guts the EPA’s authority to reduce climate pollution. The decision burdens our community with dirtier air, worse health, and preventable deaths.

This irresponsible move comes as communities like Boulder County face the constant threat of wildfires, floods, and ozone pollution. Right now, the American West is experiencing one of the warmest winters on record, and Colorado’s snowpack hovers at distressingly low levels. The devastation of climate change is here. While efforts to address climate change are being actively undermined by federal action, local governments must fight this global climate crisis with limited tools, while the costs, suffering, and stakes keep rising.

We invite everyone in Boulder County to continue to join us in leading locally to advance climate solutions. We will not be discouraged.
