Draft Integrated Weed Management Plan Now Available for Review and Comment

Upcoming Open House and Community Discussion, Property Tour, and Public Hearings scheduled.

Boulder County, Colo. - The draft Integrated Weed Management Plan is now available for review and written public comment on the Invasive Plants & Weed Management on Open Space webpage. Public comment will be accepted through Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Upcoming opportunities for information and public input:

  • Open House and Community Discussion: Wednesday, Oct. 11, 5:30-7:30
    Parks & Open Space building, 5201 St. Vrain Rd., Longmont. This will be a facilitated community discussion. The Open House and Community Discussion will introduce the plan elements and proposed policies and gather community feedback. Visit informational stations from 5:30-6:15 then join a facilitated conversation from 6:15-7:30. Registration is required.
  • Weed Management Tour: Friday, Oct. 13, 7:30-10 a.m.
    This field trip with the Boulder County Commissioners will show examples of various weed management tools and the management objectives and decision process the county uses for Colorado Department of Agriculture List A, B, C, and other weed species. Participants will hear about the challenges of weed control and how the county uses research and monitoring for adaptive management. The field location will be provided to registrants a few days in advance. Participants will travel in county vans, so seats are limited. Registration is required.

Background

Boulder County is updating its current weed management plans and policies. Currently, the county is operating with two plans: the Boulder County Noxious Weed Management Plan and the Boulder County Parks & Open Space Weed Management Policies and Procedures. These two documents will be combined into one document titled “Boulder County Integrated Weed Management Plan.”
