Boulder County, Colo. - On Sunday, July 17, 2022, at approximately 04:29 PM, Boulder County Communications was notified of a hiker who had injured their ankle on the Lost Lake Trail, just west of Nederland.

The 65-year-old male was hiking down the trail when he stepped off the trail and rolled his ankle, causing significant pain. As a result of the injury and the resulting injury, he was unable to walk out to the trailhead.

Rescuers from Rocky Mountain Rescue Group along and Nederland Fire Protection District drove in on ATV's. They were able to locate the injured party. Rescuers provided medical care and determined he could ride to the trailhead on the ATV. The injured party was evacuated to the trailhead on the ATV, where paramedics evaluated him from American Medical Response. The male refused further care and was transported from the scene by family members in a private vehicle.

Agencies assisting with this rescue effort included: Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Nederland Fire Protection District, and American Medical Response.
