Boulder County Commissioners seek public input on candidates for RTD District I Director
The Board of County Commissioners has interviewed eight candidates for the appointment. All interviews are available for public review and comment.
(Boulder County, Colo. – Oct. 16, 2020) – In September, the Regional Transportation District (RTD) reached out to the Boulder County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) to fill the board director vacancy for District I (map) because no candidates for the position qualified to be placed on the ballot for the 2020 General Election.*
RTD has further asked that the BOCC fill the vacancy on or before Nov. 3 so that the newly appointed board director for District I can participate in the same on-boarding and swearing-in activities as the newly elected or appointed representatives from other open RTD districts.
Status on filling the vacancy
The Boulder County Commissioners received nine letters of interest from applicants interested in being considered for the vacancy. The commissioners invited all nine to proceed with taped interviews to last no more than 30 minutes. (One applicant withdrew their name prior to the interviews, leaving eight candidates.)
Using input from members of the public solicited in September, the commissioners selected five questions to ask each of the candidates. The same five questions were used in all eight interviews. (Most interviews were shorter than 30 minutes.)
Next steps:
- Members of the public are invited to review:
- RTD District I Candidate Portfolio (submitted letters of interest by the candidates)
- Taped recordings of each of the eight interviews (link to YouTube playlist for all recorded interviews)
- An Online Comment Form is available for members of the public to provide their input on specific candidates through 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020.
- The commissioners’ will deliberate and select the final candidate during a public (virtual) Business Meeting at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Join the meeting using Microsoft Teams at: www.boco.org/BOCC-Oct-27-20
We would greatly welcome input from the community on the eight candidates who have taken the time to apply and interview for the position of RTD District I Director. We know not everyone has the time to watch each of the recorded interviews, but for those of you who are willing to provide feedback on one or more of the candidates, we have made the online comment form simple and easy to fill out.
