The Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Parks & Open Space real estate matters on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Stillwater Bend Conservation Easement Acquisition Boulder County proposes to acquire conservation easements and restrictive covenants over Stillwater Bend, approximately 140 acres owned by GH Land, LLC and partly by the Gayle G. Hepp Trust, for $1,700,000. The property consists of three parcels with addresses of 6835, 6917 and 0 Hygiene Road located near the intersection of N 75th Street and Hygiene Road, west of the Town of Hygiene. The property would be reconfigured into four parcels, the largest one being a preserve subject to a conservation easement, and the other three being house lots, one of which will be subject to a conservation easement and the other two subject to restrictive covenants. This configuration will result in one development right being removed from the property. Staff supports this acquisition. Action requested: Approval Forsythe Rock Conservation Easement Acquisition Boulder County proposes to acquire a conservation easement over 36 acres, owned by the John Shortridge, Jr. Trust, for $400,000. Boulder County Parks & Open Space will host its annual public meeting concerning prairie dog management on Boulder County Parks & Open Space properties on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ron Stewart Parks & Open Space Building in Longmont. This will be an in-person-only meeting. Staff will be available to discuss the variety of activities conducted in 2025 and how the department manages prairie dogs on open space properties, including agricultural lands. Celebrate the first full moon of 2026 by hiking with volunteer naturalists in a park that usually closes at sunset. We’ll meet at the picnic shelter at 4:30 p.m., enjoy both the sunset and the moonrise, then meander on easy trails under the full moon.
