Wildfire Partners Sparks Conversation about Wildfire Preparedness with “The HOTline” Installations Across Boulder County

Residents can pick up at locations in Boulder, Lafayette, Louisville, and Longmont

Boulder County, Colo. - Wildfire Partners, Boulder County’s nationally recognized wildfire mitigation program, today launched “The HOTline” as part of its Wildfire Happens Here campaign to make talking about wildfire preparedness more conversational. Residents can hear tips about wildfire and actions to take at home from rotary phone installations placed throughout Boulder County.

Locals will find The HOTlines at four locations in Boulder County through November 4. Picking up the receiver at each location will automatically prompt a wildfire fact or home preparedness tip delivered by Boulder County Commissioners Ashley Stolzmann and Marta Loachamin:

  • North Boulder Rec Center, 3170 Broadway, Boulder
  • Lafayette Public Library, 775 Baseline Rd., Lafayette
  • Louisville Public Library, 951 Spruce St., Louisville
  • Boulder County Fairgrounds, Exhibit Hall North Entrance, 9595 Nelson Rd., Longmont

“In times without an active fire, it’s easy to put wildfire preparedness out of mind,” said Abby Silver, Wildfire Partners’ Outreach Coordinator. “But wildfires have been recorded in Boulder County in every month of the year, and it’s up to all of us to take steps to help reduce our wildfire risk at home. The HOTline is a fun and approachable way to get more people engaged with learning and taking action.”

The Wildfire Happens Here campaign is designed to raise awareness about wildfire preparedness among residents in Boulder County and along the front range. Earlier this summer, Wildfire Partners announced a county-wide rebate program of up to $500 for residents who actively take measures to protect their homes from wildfire. Learn more about the rebate – which is available through October 31, 2024 – and Wildfire Partners’ other programs at WildfirePartners.org/rebate.

About Wildfire Partners

Wildfire Partners is a nationally recognized Boulder County program designed to help residents prepare for wildfires. Funding for the rebate program is provided by the Wildfire Mitigation Sales Tax. The sales tax was approved by Boulder County voters in 2022 to fund work in two areas: Strategic Forest and Grassland Management, and Community and Individual Programs to Improve Wildfire Resilience. Technical and financial assistance is available to residents of the county through custom wildfire mitigation assessments, educational programs, community events, and a free chipping program.
