Two rescues at Chautauqua Park

Boulder County, Colo. - On Friday, July 23, 2021 at approximately 11:04 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center was notified of an injured hiker on the Chautauqua Trail.

A twenty-seven year-old male from Philadelphia, PA, experienced a medical emergency that led to a fall while hiking on the Chautauqua Trail. American Medical Response provided medical care. Rocky Mountain Rescue Group provided a wheeled-litter evacuation to the trailhead. The hiker declined medical transport. The rescue lasted approximately one hour.

Agencies assisting with this rescue included: Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, American Medical Response, and City of Boulder Fire-Rescue Department.

The associated Boulder County Sheriff's Office case number is: #21-3427.

Later Friday afternoon, July 23 at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Boulder County Communications Center was notified of an injured hiker on the 1st/2nd Flatiron Trail.

A fifty-four year-old male from Alexandria, VA, sustained a knee injury while hiking on the 1st/2nd Flatiron Trail. Rocky Mountain Rescue Group provided a wheeled-litter evacuation to the trailhead. American Medical Response provided medical care and ambulance transport to an area hospital. The rescue lasted approximately one and one-half hours.

Agencies assisting with this rescue included: Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, and American Medical Response.
