Suspect Served With Felony Summons for Arson for the June 14 Fire on Flagstaff

Boulder County, Colo. - The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office has served Zasquin Benally-Bartell, 31-year-old, from Louisville, CO, a felony summons for arson for the fire that took place on June 14, 2025, between Flagstaff Drive and Boulder Canyon Drive.

Bentally-Bartell was served with a summons for two counts of 4th Degree Arson (F4) under state statute C.R.S. 18-4-105(1)(2) and she is scheduled to appear on the charges at the Boulder County Jail on July 11, 2025.

Fire investigators from Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks found two points of origin for the fire. A deputy with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was able to track down the suspect based on evidence found at the scene and eyewitness statements.

The fire near Flagstaff was reported to emergency communications in the evening hours of June 14 and grew to be approximately ¼ acre in size. Multiple fire agencies responded to help extinguish the fire, and fortunately it was extinguished before it caused injury or damage to nearby structures.

The following agencies assisted with the fire investigation: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder County Digital Forensics Lab, Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, Boulder Fire-Rescue, and the Louisville Police Department.

As in every criminal case, these charges are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.
