Search for lost hiker in Skunk Canyon area

Search for lost hiker in Skunk Canyon area

Boulder County, Colo. -

On Thursday, August 12, 2021 at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Boulder County Communications Center was notified of a lost hiker in the Skunk Canyon area of Boulder Mountain Parks.

A fifty-nine year-old male from Erie, CO became lost hiking off-trail. Searchers were able to find to the hiker using his cell phone GPS location. The hiker was provided a headlamp and hiked out to the trailhead with the assistance of searchers. The search and hike out lasted approximately 6 hours.

Agencies assisting with this search included: Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks.
