Rattlesnake Gulch Hiker Rescued

Boulder County, Colo - On Sunday, September 26, 2021 at approximately 12:27 PM Boulder County Communications was notified of a hiker who had fallen and injured his head and shoulder in the area of the Rattlesnake Gulch Trail in Eldorado Canyon State Park.

The 74-year-old male was hiking when he fell approximately 50 feet, injuring his head and shoulder. As a result of the injury he was unable to walk out to the trailhead. Firefighters and Paramedics from Mountain View Fire Protection District and park staff from Eldorado Canyon State Park hiked to the injured party and provided medical care. Rescuers from Rocky Mountain Rescue Group packaged the injured party into a bean bag splint and litter. Rescuers then conducted a technical evacuation out to the trailhead. The injured male was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital for further medical care

Agencies assisting with this rescue effort included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Mountain View Fire Protection District, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, and Eldorado Canyon State Park Rangers.
