Press Release – Major Methamphetamine Distributor Sentenced to 40 Years in Prison

Boulder County, Colo. - Today, Michael Kaiser, a long-time methamphetamine distributor, entered guilty pleas and was sentenced to a total of 40 years in the Department of Corrections.

In case 23CR1894, Mr. Kaiser entered a guilty plea to distribution of more than 112 grams of methamphetamine, a class 1 drug felony, which carries a potential sentence of 8 to 32 years in the Department of Corrections. This case involved the defendant selling 458 grams of methamphetamine to an individual that transported the narcotics to Nebraska before being arrested.

In 24CR2007, Mr. Kaiser also entered a guilty plea to distribution of more than 112 grams of methamphetamine after selling 223.83 grams of methamphetamine in a controlled buy with law enforcement.

He was sentenced to 20 years in the Department of Corrections in each case and those sentences are to run consecutively to each other, totaling 40 years.

Michael Kaiser has been a prolific methamphetamine dealer in the community for more than a decade. In 2013 Mr. Kaiser was indicted by the Boulder County Grand Jury for violating the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act (COCCA) as part of an enterprise distributing pounds of methamphetamine. In case 13CR1429, he pleaded guilty to a class 2 felony of COCCA and class 3 felony of conspiracy to distribute 450-1000 grams of methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison on the case.

After being released on parole Mr. Kaiser returned to distributing methamphetamine. Through the dedication and hard work of the Boulder County Drug Task Force (BCDTF) and Longmont Police Department Special Investigations Unit (SIU) the most recent cases were built against the defendant.

Assistant District Attorney Ken Kupfner stated, “We cannot thank our partners at the BCDTF and SIU enough for their continued work targeting individuals and organizations trafficking large quantities of harmful drugs in our community. Everyone hears about the fentanyl overdoses, but 50% of our overdose deaths are from methamphetamine.”
