Aldair Garcia Rodriguez Sentenced to 35 Years in Prison for Human Trafficking

Boulder County, Colo. --On July 11, 2024, the Court sentenced Aldair Garcia Rodriguez to 35 years in the Department of Corrections. He will also have to register as a sex offender and serve five years on parole.

Aldair Garcia Rodriguez was indicted on January 12, 2023, on five charges, including: three counts of F2 Human Trafficking of a Minor for Sexual Servitude; and two counts of DF1 Distribution of a Controlled Substance to a Minor.

The allegations in this case stemmed from an intensive investigation by the Longmont Police Department and the District Attorney’s Office into three co-defendants who were charged with providing drugs to public school students in exchange for money and sexual acts. Investigators uncovered a wide-ranging drug dealing operation, which included Aldair Garcia Rodriguez. Specifically, he sold drugs, namely cocaine, MDMA, marijuana and marijuana concentrate, to students attending various public schools throughout the St. Vrain Valley School District. Further investigation revealed that Aldair Garcia Rodriguez coerced underage women to perform sexual acts in exchange for drugs.

The District Attorney’s Office presented the case to the Grand Jury. On January 12, 2023, the Grand Jury returned indictments on Garcia Rodriguez and two co-defendants.

On February 21, 2024, Aldair Garcia Rodriguez pled guilty to one count of Human Trafficking of a Minor for Sexual Servitude, a class two felony and one count of Distribution of a Controlled Substance to a Minor – Schedule 1 or 2, a class one drug felony. The plea agreement included a stipulated prison sentence to the Department of Corrections within a range of between 32 and 45 years.

District Attorney Michael Dougherty stated, “With his drug distribution operation, Aldair Garcia Rodriguez targeted and preyed upon young students and coerced them to engage in sexual acts. Today’s sentence is the right outcome. It is a direct result of rigorous efforts and outstanding teamwork by the investigators and prosecutors.”

Chief Trial Deputy District Attorney Christine Rinke stated, “We appreciate the court’s sentence in this serious case. Human Trafficking remains a serious issue in Boulder County and one that requires an increase in awareness, education, and oversight by schools, parents, and the community as well. Through the efforts of our dedicated Human Trafficking investigator and partnerships with law enforcement, we’ve been able to better identify, investigate and prosecute these cases.”
