Boulder County, Colo. - The Boulder County Parks & Open Space Foundation is accepting applications for new board members. The deadline to apply is Monday, Feb. 5.

The role of the foundation is to accept donations from the community and to direct this funding to projects and programs being implemented by the Parks & Open Space department, often in partnership with other organizations.

The board of directors meets quarterly to set and implement strategy and conduct board business. Board business typically consists of reviewing financial statements, considering/selecting proposed projects and programs for funding, and working on fundraising campaigns. Members can expect to spend a few hours of time working on board-related tasks in addition to quarterly meeting such as reviewing project proposals and tasks related to fund-raising campaigns. Meetings are held at county offices in Boulder or Longmont, with remote participation available.

The board of directors is appointed by the Boulder County Board of County Commissioners and is comprised of:

  • At least three staff members from the Parks & Open Space department.
  • At least three members (current or former) from the Parks & Open Space Advisory Committee or the Historic Preservation Advisory Board.
  • Up to one-third of total members from the general public.

Board members must demonstrate a commitment to support the Boulder County Parks & Open Space department mission, values, and work. Terms are three years and members may serve up to three terms. The Parks & Open Space Foundation encourages people of color and diverse experiences to apply for the general public positions.

To apply, please send a letter of interest to dlambert@bouldercounty.gov by Monday, Feb. 5.
