Injured hiker rescued on Rainbow Lakes Trail

Boulder County, Colo. - On Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at approximately 3:10 p.m., a Boulder County Parks and Open Space ranger was notified of an injured hiker on the Rainbow Lakes Trail.

A sixty-five-year-old female from Ward, CO, fell and sustained a leg injury while hiking the Rainbow Lakes Trail. Indian Peaks Fire Department provided initial medical care. Rocky Mountain Rescue Group provided further medical care and a litter evacuation to the Rainbow Lakes Campground. American Medical Response transported the female to an area hospital. The rescue lasted approximately two hours.

Agencies assisting with this rescue included: American Land and Leisure, American Medical Response, Boulder County Parks and Open Space, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Indian Peaks Fire Department, and Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
