Homicide victim found on Blue Mountain Road identified and suspect arrested

Boulder County, Colo. - On September 24, 2024, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about human remains in the 1000 block of Blue Mountain Road, northwest of the Town of Lyons in unincorporated Boulder County (see previous press release below).

Since that time, in addition to investigating the homicide, the sheriff’s office and the Boulder County Coroner’s Office have been working on determining the identification of the victim. The coroner’s office was able to provide an age estimation of the victim, along with physical characteristics, which investigators from the sheriff’s office used to begin researching missing persons reports statewide.

Investigators were able to locate a missing person report from the Denver Police Department, which was a potential match for the victim in this case, however, traditional investigative means of identification (comparisons to missing persons cases, clothing descriptions, etc.) could not offer conclusive identification. An additional complication in this case was the decomposition of the remains.

DNA of a family member of the missing person was provided to the coroner’s office for comparison. The sheriff’s office and coroner’s office jointly reached out to ANDE Corporation, a company that specializes in Rapid DNA technology, and which has previously assisted with cases in Boulder County. They were able to provide information to the coroner’s office which assisted them in confirming the identification of the victim on December 3, 2024.

The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Gaudy Garcia Pina, a citizen of Venezuela who had been residing in Denver. The victim was reported missing from Denver on July 15, 2024. The associated Denver Police Department case number is: 2024-379441.

A suspect in this case was interviewed and arrested on December 6, 2024. The suspect is Andres Eloy Martinez Perez, D.O.B. 2/14/93, a resident of Denver. The suspect and the victim were in a relationship at the time of her disappearance.

The suspect has been charged with the following and has been booked into the Boulder County Jail:

  • Murder in the First Degree, C.R.S. 18-3-102(1)(a), a class one felony
  • Domestic Violence, C.R.S. 18-6-800.3

Further charges may be pending as the investigation is ongoing.

The following organizations have assisted with this investigation: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder County Coroner’s Office, Boulder County District Attorney’s Office, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Denver Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the ANDE Corporation.

The associated Boulder County Sheriff’s Office case number is: 24-04920.

As in every criminal case, these charges are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.
