Hiker Rescued from Lion’s Lair Trail

Boulder County, Colo. - On Thursday, January 2, 2020, at approximately 11:26 a.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a hiker who had injured her knee in the area of the upper section of the Lion’s Lair Trail outside of Boulder.

The female, who was hiking with family members, injured her leg near the last switchback at the top of the trail. The members of the Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District and the Boulder Rural Fire Protection District provided first aid to the patient. The Rocky Mountain Rescue Group assisted in preparing and packaging the patient who was then carried out to Timber Lane and transferred to AMR who transported the patient to the hospital.

Agencies assisting with this rescue effort included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response (AMR), Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District, Boulder Rural Fire Protection District, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
