Fallen Climber Rescued in Eldorado Canyon State Park

Boulder County, Colo. - On July 30 at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a phone call reporting a fallen climber in Eldorado Canyon State Park near the climbing area of the Red Garden Wall and Yellow Spur.

The person who called dispatch said they heard what sounded to be a person in pain from a nearby location. They found a climber who had fallen and needed assistance.

A technical rescue was needed to extricate the individual from the location where he had fallen. The individual was carried down the scree field and a rope system was used to transport the male over the South Boulder Creek to an awaiting ambulance. The climber was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The technical rescue lasted approximately three hours.

Personnel from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Mountain View Fire Rescue, and Rocky Mountain Rescue Group responded to the area to provide assistance.
