District Attorney’s Office Trial Team Honored with Outstanding Trial Team Achievement Award for Work on King Soopers Case

Boulder County, Colo. - The District Attorney’s Office has received the Outstanding Trial Team Achievement Award from the Colorado District Attorney’s Council (CDAC) in recognition of the office’s exceptional work on the King Soopers case and trial.

The award was presented to District Attorney Michael Dougherty, Assistant District Attorney Ken Kupfner, Former First Assistant District Attorney Katharina Booth (now retired), Senior Investigator Sarah Cantu and Paralegal Elisabeth Scanlon for their extraordinary work, and commitment to justice in one of the most challenging and impactful cases our community has faced.

The team’s work on this case reflects the highest standards of our office and the justice system, demonstrating their commitment to the victims, their families, and the entire Boulder community

The “Outstanding Trial Team Achievement Award” is given to a trial team in Colorado comprised of the attorneys, investigators, paralegals, staff, and victim advocates of that office who collaborated and persevered on the prosecution of a case of significant importance to the state.

DA Michael Dougherty stated, “We are honored and humbled to receive this award from the District Attorneys of Colorado. Our trial team fought hard for justice for the victims, their families and this community. Although this award is for the trial team, the outstanding staff throughout my office all played a role in this case. I deeply appreciate them. And it is the resilience, strength and courage of the victim families, law enforcement, and community members that I will always remember.”
