Deceased Male Found Near Lost Gulch Overlook
Boulder County, Colo. - On August 12, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a phone call from a male who indicated that he was armed and was planning on killing himself.
First responders searched the area in vehicles, on foot, and using a thermal drone looking for the male or his known associated vehicle but were initially unable to find him. Multiple trailhead parking lots were searched in the Flagstaff Road area based on information we had on a potential location for the male.
The initial search concluded around 1:00 a.m., when we were unable to locate the man and/or his vehicle. We then found out that he had borrowed a vehicle from another person and the search then transitioned to looking for updated vehicle description, which was found at approximately 3:30 a.m. at the Lost Gulch Overlook parking lot, located at 4400 Flagstaff Road. A search of the area continued at approximately 6:00 a.m. and the deceased male was found a short time later off a nearby trail.
The identification of the decedent, as well as the cause and manner of death will be determined by the Boulder County Coroner’s Office.
The following agencies responded: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, Erie Police Department, and Boulder County Coroner’s Office.
The associated Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is 25-03915.
