Deceased female located in Boulder Canyon
Boulder County, Colo. -
On Thursday, May 5, 2022 at approximately 11:46 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a call about a vehicle located in the area of the 33-mile marker of Boulder Canyon. The vehicle was reported to belong to a 27-year-old female who had been reported missing in the City of Boulder on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.
Boulder County Communications dispatched a Sheriff’s Deputy, who also requested the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit respond to the incident. When the deputy arrived on scene, he was able to confirm the vehicle belonged to the missing female. A search was conducted with Emergency Services Coordinators identifying an area of interest to investigate further. An Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) from the City of Boulder Police Department was on scene and assisted by evaluating this area of interest due to the rugged terrain. The UAS eventually located what the operator believed to be a person. Rescuers responded to the scene, but unfortunately, upon their arrival, they determined that the female was deceased.
Detectives from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and investigators from the Boulder County Coroner’s Office were then notified and responded to investigate. Rescue personnel from Rocky Mountain Rescue Group evacuated the deceased female’s body.
The death investigation is on-going. At this time, foul play is not suspected. The official cause and manner of death, along with identification of the deceased, will be determined by the Boulder County Coroner’s Office.
Rescue personnel from the following agencies responded to assist: The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder Police Department, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks Rangers, and the Boulder County Coroner’s Office.
The associated Boulder County Sheriff's Office case number is: #22-1995.
