Recommended Prevention Steps
The CDC no longer uses COVID Hospitalization Levels to determine community COVID risk. Instead, the CDC has published new guidelines incorporating Influenza, Respiratory Syncytial Virus/RSV, colds, and COVID. This is called Respiratory Virus Guidance.
Core Prevention Strategies
- Immunizations
- Influenza
- COVID
- RSV
- Hand hygiene with hand washing or hand sanitizer
- Take steps for cleaner air in your home and business
- Treatments when available
- Stay home and away from others if you are sick
Additional Prevention Strategies
- Masking
- Social Distancing
- Testing for COVID, Influenza, RSV
Layering prevention strategies can be especially helpful when:
- Respiratory viruses are causing a lot of illness in the community
- You or those around you are at risk for severe disease
- You or those around you were exposed, have been sick, or are recovering
Please stay home if you are ill until your symptoms improve and you are fever-free for 24 hours.
