Boulder County SWAT Response

Armed Robbery and Assault Investigation in Superior

Boulder County, Colo.

On June 5, 2025, at approximately 2:37 PM, Boulder County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery and assault of an individual in the parking lot of the Safeway located at 1601 Coalton Road in Superior. The store itself was not the target of the crime; the incident involved a single victim who was assaulted and robbed outside the business.

Deputies subsequently identified a possible suspect location and responded to an apartment at 2300 South Rock Creek Parkway, Building 30, within the Bell Flatirons apartment complex in Superior. The suspect was believed to be barricaded inside a unit, and the area was secured accordingly.

In response to the initial information, SWAT personnel from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder Police Department, and Longmont Public Safety responded to assist in safely managing the scene. A Mandatory Shelter-in-Place Order was issued at 4:56 PM for residents of Building 30 at 2300 South Rock Creek Parkway.

One individual, the original victim, sustained injuries during the incident. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Following further investigation and assessment of the circumstances, the situation no longer meets the threshold for continued tactical operations. As such, SWAT teams are demobilizing, and the incident will transition to an ongoing investigative effort by Sheriff’s Office personnel. The shelter-in-place order has been lifted, and there is no immediate threat to the community.

This incident is documented under Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Case Number: 25-02720
