Boulder County, Colo. - After a nationwide recruitment effort and thorough interview process, including feedback from Boulder County employees and the public, the Boulder County Commissioners are delighted to announce the appointment of Jason Seuc as Boulder County Parks & Open Space Director effective April 6.
“With responsibility for over 100,000 acres of land, the county’s Parks & Open Space department plays a large and important role in the Boulder County community,” said Commissioner Claire Levy. “On behalf of the Board of County Commissioners, I have been working with county staff since earlier this year to recruit a new Parks & Open Space Director who prioritized listening and communication skills, technical expertise, demonstrated personal commitment to equity, skills in relationship building and community engagement, and leadership that champions the Parks & Open Space mission. On behalf of the board, I’m delighted to announce the appointment of Jason Suec as our newest director. Jason brings all of the qualities that we were looking for, alongside a wealth of experience in public service. We are excited for this next chapter of Parks & Open Space and Jason’s fresh approach to leadership.”
Jason is a conservation leader and former U.S. diplomat with 20 years of experience balancing environmental management, community needs, and sustainable development. He has spent his career building partnerships between governments, communities, and the private sector to protect natural landscapes and expand equitable access to the outdoors and natural resources, particularly for underserved and marginalized communities.
Jason is a Colorado resident, an avid hiker and mountain biker, and together with his family is proud to call Boulder County home.
"It's a privilege to join Boulder County Parks & Open Space and I'm looking forward to working with such a talented team. For over 50 years, Boulder County has built an exceptional legacy in conservation and open space, and I am honored to build on that foundation and work with staff, partners, and the community on a bright future for Boulder County's open space," said Jason Seuc.
The County Commissioners thank Interim Parks & Open Space Director, Heidi Wagner for her exceptional service in keeping the department running successfully during this busy time of transition. Heidi's interim appointment will continue until Jason’s start date.
