State of Colorado allows adjustments to permit valuations
Homeowners who lost homes in the Marshall Fire can now get more money back from the state for sales tax on building materials. The Colorado Department of Revenue’s Sales Tax Refund for Rebuilding after a Declared Wildfire Disaster program lets homeowners who lost their homes in a qualified wildfire disaster get a refund on the state sales and use tax paid for construction and building materials used to rebuild their home. Recovery navigation services posts final report
Recovery Navigators began helping property owners on July 25, 2022, who were impacted by the Marshall Fire and Straight-Line Wind Event. To keep the community in the loop about the progress of the program, monthly reports are posted on the Navigating Disaster website. The monthly reports share information including major activities & accomplishments, trends & concerns, programmatic challenges, future planning, client impact stories, and program data. Marshall Together event Saturday, May 18
Come relax and connect with the fire-impacted community (including Boulder County Sheriff Johnson) over drinks and appetizers. Marshall Together will be celebrating a very successful 2024 Colorado legislative session and will be joined by Reps. Kyle Brown and Judy Amabile! This is the time for us all to reconnect and share experiences with one another within the Marshall fire impacted community. Whether you have rebuilt, are rebuilding, were smoke impacted, were a renter, or have decided to move out of the area - all are welcome! There will be a kids activity table for families too. Assessor's Office appointments available May 23
Boulder County residents impacted by the Marshall Fire with questions about their Property Tax assessment can sign up for a 30-minute appointment at Marshall ROC with the Boulder County Assessor's Office on May 23. The Marshall ROC Recovery Center is located at 357 McCaslin Blvd, Suite 115b, Louisville, CO 80027 Click Here to Schedule an appointment with the county Assessor's office.
United Policyholders 2024 home insurance survey
United Policyholders, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is conducting a confidential survey about home insurance availability and costs in Colorado. The data will help households and communities find insurance options in order to be prepared for and rebound after disasters. Take the home insurance survey here.
Strategic fuels wildfire mitigation grants now open
Community Planning & Permitting has released the application for the next round of Strategic Fuels Mitigation Grants (SFMG). Project funding is available for local government agencies, fire protection districts, and community organizations to increase the pace and scale of wildfire mitigation across the county. Applications for the Spring 2024 cycle accepted through June 6. Read more about the Strategic Fuels Mitigation Grant Program.
