All Trails Closed West of Highway 36

Boulder County, Colo. - All Boulder County Parks & Open Space trails and open space areas west of Highway 36 will close at sunset tonight and remain closed on Saturday, March 14, due to high winds and extreme fire danger.

The closed areas include:

  • Anne U. White Trail
  • Bald Mountain Scenic Area
  • Betasso Preserve
  • Boulder Canyon Trail
  • Caribou Ranch
  • Hall Ranch
  • Heil Valley Ranch
  • Mud Lake
  • Walker Ranch

Parks Will Reopen on Sunday

Starting Sunday, March 15, Boulder County Parks & Open Space rangers will check all closed open space areas. Rangers cannot hike every trail, but they will reopen parks if no immediate safety concerns are visible from parking areas.

The interactive trails map will update as trails reopen, and updates will be sent to trail alerts subscribers.

Use Extreme Caution

Trail users should use extreme caution after trails reopen. Trails may be blocked due to fallen trees and limbs. Be alert as trees and branches can fall at any time, even after winds have calmed.

Report Safety Concerns

Report fallen trees or safety issues to posinfo@bouldercounty.gov. Please include a photo and exact location when possible. Crews will clear fallen trees as soon as they are able. Thank you for your patience.
