The Boulder County Board of Health (BOH) consists of five volunteer Boulder County residents who are appointed by the Boulder County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) to serve five-year, staggered terms. The BOH was re-established in accordance with the Colorado Public Health Act of 2008 (Colorado Revised Statutes [C.R.S.] Section §25-1-508) and serves as the governing board for Boulder County Public Health (BCPH), whose mission is to “protect, promote, and enhance the health and well-being of all people and the environment in Boulder County.
BOH responsibilities include assuring appropriate policy for BCPH, hiring and supervising the Boulder County public health director, approving the department’s budget, and providing oversight of department operations.
Regular Board of Health meetings are held on the second Monday of each month beginning at 5:30 p.m. The meetings are held at the Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) Auditorium, 3450 Broadway, Boulder, Colorado.
Special meetings may be called at the discretion of the Board of Health president, BCPH executive director, or a majority of the Board members.
Additional special meetings, study sessions, and executive sessions are held, as required, and all meetings are conducted and open to the public in accordance with C.R.S. §24-6-401, as amended (“Colorado Open Meetings Law”).
A public comment period is held at the beginning of all regular meetings when members of the public can comment on items not scheduled for public hearing (they may also speak during the public hearings). Currently, Board of Health meetings are being held virtually.
A sign-up form will be listed here 72 hours prior to the next Board of Health meeting.
Only individuals who have provided their information prior to the start of the meeting will be permitted to speak. At the meeting, each person will be permitted up to 3 minutes to speak, subject to cumulative time limits that may be in effect. Written public comments will be provided to all Board members whether or not the individual attends the meeting. The Board will rely upon written public comments alone unless the comment states that the individual wishes to speak at the meeting.
