Due Date: 07/24/2023 2:00 pm
Bidding Number: SOQ #7479-23
Bidding Categories: Community Planning and Permitting

Purpose/Background

Awarded vendors will be expected to enter into a continuing services contract with the county with the option to renew for four more one-year terms. No work is guaranteed by an award of a contract.

Boulder County has had a chipping program since 1993. The chipping program is designed to directly support wildfire mitigation efforts. During the last three years, the county has operated its own chipping crew to chip the slash piles and haul off the chips. In 2023, the county will use chipping contractors to conduct community chipping events. This SOQ will be used to create a list of chipping contractors. Communities will select from contractors on this list to complete their chipping events. All contractors on this list will be paid fixed rates based on a variety of factors such as chipping crew size, chipper size, and number of households involved in the chipping event. The goal of the program is to fund all chipping events in the county with a minimum of five participants with at least a half day of chipping work who are removing slash with the specific goal of reducing their wildfire risk. This program is being funded by the new wildfire mitigation tax.

Specifications and a sample contract are attached.
