YOOP Trainings
The YOOP (Youth Opioid Overdose Prevention) team is made up of trained youth and adult educators and offers Narcan training options. YOOP trainings combine lessons and activities and are designed by youth for youth and young adults in Boulder County. YOOP focuses on providing accurate information so young people in Boulder County can make informed decisions that will reduce the impact of opioid overdoses in our community. YOOP trainings are free, and food and snacks will be provided.
Training Options
Basic Narcan Training
YOOP is excited to offer an interactive Narcan training for youth! Youth will learn from trained youth and adult educators about what an opioid overdose is, how Narcan (naloxone) works in the body, and how to administer Narcan. This training will provide youth with information on how to make healthy choices and what to do in an emergency.
Duration: 40min
Advanced Training
This interactive Narcan training for youth includes discussions about harm reduction and stigma as well as the basics of Narcan. Students will learn from trained youth and adult educators about what harm reduction is, what an opioid overdose is, how to use Narcan (naloxone), and how it works in the body.
Duration: 1hr
Certification Program
This interactive training allows time for conversations and activities so youth can interact more. Students will learn from trained youth and adult educators about what harm reduction is, how to have conversations about stigma, what an opioid overdose is, how to use Narcan, and how it works in the body.
Duration 2.5-3 hours, depending on group size
Parent/Family Member Training
YOOP and the Works have collaborated to offer a training for parents and family members who would like to learn about opioid overdose response and explore how to talk to their youth about it. This opportunity is for adults to learn about fentanyl, opioids, and the steps to take to respond to an opioid overdose, in addition to some time for discussion around these topics.
