Maria Avila - Foster Care Team

Maria Avila

Maria Avila (she/her) is the foster and adoption supervisor for the 360 Foster Care Team. She has worked in child protection for more than two decades. Maria has been employed with Boulder County since January 2023. She previously worked as a foster care certification caseworker and adoption caseworker in another county. Maria is passionate about supporting foster families and children placed in foster care. She was also a foster parent with Boulder County for three years, and she gained a better understanding of the support and knowledge that foster parents need to be successful. Maria is a Colorado native who enjoys spending time with her husband, two adult children, and her three dogs. She enjoys being outdoors gardening, walking, hiking, and skiing. Samantha Frazee

Samantha (she/her) is the Foster Parent Engagement Specialist on the 360 Foster Care team and has worked for Boulder County since 2005. During her time as a Boulder County foster parent from 2009-2014, she began to feel a strong pull to work in the foster care world. So, after closing her foster home in 2014 she accepted the position with the 360 team as the full-time recruiter. She will happily start a conversation about foster care in the checkout line in the grocery store. Samantha lives in Longmont with her wife, three children, two cats, an Old English sheepdog, and lots of plants. sfrazee@bouldercounty.gov

Kimberly Cancino

Kimberly is a Foster Care and Adoption worker on the 360 Foster Care team. She has worked in child protection for two decades. Kimberly has been employed with Boulder County since 2013 and became a part of the 360 team in 2020. Kimberly has a passion for supporting foster parents and children in foster care. Kimberly was a foster parent for 19 years. She lives in Brighton with her husband, son, and dog. kcancino@bouldercounty.gov

Alan Nicholas

Alan is a Foster Care and Adoption caseworker on the 360 Foster Care team. Before coming to Boulder County in 2020, he previously worked in other child welfare/adolescence capacities in Colorado Springs. Alan has been licensed as a foster parent since 2016 and has previously cared for adolescence placed in foster care. Alan finds passion in working with families whom could provide permanency for children through adoption. When not at work, he enjoys doing outdoor activities. anicholas@bouldercounty.gov

Mike Gregory

Mike is a Foster Care and Adoption caseworker on the 360 Foster Care team. He graduated in 2008 from CU Boulder and has since worked in many areas of the human services field supporting children and adults from various backgrounds. Being a Boulder County native, Mike was thrilled at the opportunity to be a 360 worker and help support Boulder County youth and foster parents. Mike enjoys snowboarding, hiking, camping, traveling and gardening. Mike is married and also a proud father to a wonderful little girl. mgregory@bouldercounty.gov

Darryl Harrington

Darryl is a Foster Care and Adoption caseworker on the 360 Foster Care team. After graduating from CU Boulder in 2013, he dove head first into direct care with kids who endured trauma that resulted in severe behavioral needs. He began his caseworker journey in intake assessing reports of abuse and neglect and learned more about the incredible work foster parents were doing to provide for kids in child welfare. Darryl joined the 360 team in 2021 to fulfill his passion of educating and supporting foster parents in all that they do. Darryl lives in Thornton with his wife, two daughters and a golden doodle. dharrington@bouldercounty.gov
