Zoonotic Conditions Requiring Reporting

Disease Reporting Requirements for Veterinarians

The Colorado Board of Health also requires Veterinarians to report diseases in animals that “may endanger the public health” (6CCR 1009-1, Reg. 8). Since Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) and veterinarians have the common goal of protecting the health of those we serve, we are requesting veterinarians to report the following zoonotic conditions when diagnosed in animals.

  • Q Fever
  • Brucellosis
  • Anthrax
  • Plague
  • Leptospirosis
  • Tularemia
  • Rabies
  • Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy / Prion diseases
  • Hantavirus
  • Any other manifestations in morbidity and mortality in animal

How to Report

Please fax the following information for the above conditions to 303-413-7526.
