Virtual Public Meeting on proposed Land Use Code Update regarding Floodplain Regulations, 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023

Boulder County Community Planning & Permitting will host a virtual information session on Feb. 9, 2023, on proposed Land Use Code update DC-22-0004. The proposed amendments are primarily meant to comply with recent FEMA and Mile High Flood District (MHFD) policy changes related to agricultural structures and occupancy in floodplains. Additional clarifications and minor changes are also proposed. This docket does not affect floodplain maps, but maps can be viewed at www.boco.org/floodplain. The Boulder County Land Use Code applies to the unincorporated portions of Boulder County, not in incorporated cities and towns.

Public comment period February 1-28, 2023

The public is invited to provide written comments on the draft Land Use Code text amendments through February 28, 2023. Comments can be emailed to FloodplainAdmin@bouldercounty.org. All comments will be part of the public record and will be considered by staff in drafting the final recommended amendment text and will be provided to the Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners for their consideration.

Next Steps

Staff will take the docket to the March meeting of the Boulder County Planning Commission. Pending a recommendation from the Planning Commission, staff will then present the docket at a public hearing before the Board of County Commissioners.
