Astronomy: Galaxies of Spring and A Tour of the Virgo Cluster
Spring evenings are an ideal time to look beyond our own Milky Way, as well as the Lyrid meteor shower. Join Boulder County volunteer naturalists for a friendly and engaging look at the Virgo Cluster, a region of the sky filled with universes far beyond our own. We’ll talk about what galaxies are, how they form, and why this cluster is such a treat for stargazers.
Presentations will be at the picnic shelter, followed by stargazing in the parking area. The Longmont Astronomical Society provides telescopes to help bring these dim and distant objects into view. Bring a chair or blanket, a light jacket, and a red flashlight, and get ready to enjoy a night under the stars!
