Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

Our work is funded through the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Mill Levy. Boulder County voters approved this funding in 2002. It uses property tax dollars to support people with IDD, autism, and brain injury who need services that other funding doesn’t cover.

What is IDD?

IDD stands for intellectual and developmental disabilities. This includes:

  • Disabilities that begin before a person turns 22, such as intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, or other neurological conditions that affect how someone thinks, learns, or cares for themselves
  • Brain injuries that happen in adulthood and have a similar impact

Imagine!’s Community Partners Program helps people of all ages with IDD, autism, or brain injury find the support they need to stay stable and connected in Boulder County.

The program can help you with:

  • Housing applications and waitlists
  • Stabilization supports
  • Finding local resources
  • Referrals to other programs that may be a good fit

Do you or someone you love live in Boulder County and have IDD, autism, or a brain injury? Navigating programs and services can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. Our Systems Navigator is here to help you connect with the support you need.

This includes help with:

  • Medicaid and waiver eligibility
  • Social Security benefits
  • Referrals to services that help meet basic needs

Our Systems Navigator works with people of all ages and is bilingual in English and Spanish. They’ll help you find the right programs, understand what you qualify for, and guide you through the application process.

The IDD Advisory Council helps guide how local funding is used to support residents with IDD, autism, and brain injury, along with their families and caregivers. The council does not make final decisions but provides important input that helps shape programs and services in the community. They meet once a month.
