Boulder County Commissioners vote to support a comprehensive set of climate action policies for 2020-2021
The policies cover statewide and local climate strategies, energy generation, energy efficiency, transportation, fossil fuel extraction activities, and solid waste reduction.
(Boulder County, Colo.) -- The Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, to support the updated and comprehensive set of climate action policies for 2020-2021* developed by Colorado Communities for Climate Action (CC4CA).
These policy priorities represent steps that should be taken at the state and federal level, in partnership with local governments, to enable Colorado and its communities to lead in protecting the climate. They cover statewide and local climate strategies, energy generation, energy efficiency, transportation, fossil fuel extraction activities, and solid waste reduction.
The new policies build upon the historic legislative and regulatory progress that has been made on climate change issues over the past two years. This includes continued advocacy in support of renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean transportation and mobility, and solid waste reduction.
In addition, the latest CC4CA policy agenda includes an emphasis on “just transition” policies to support communities and their residents impacted by the accelerating shift away from fossil fuels. It also includes support for COVID-driven policies such as telecommuting that protect public health while reducing climate change impacts.
