Injured hiker evacuated from the East Ridge Trail

Boulder County, Colo. - On Saturday, July 18, 2020 at approximately 10:43 a.m. the Boulder County Communications Center was notified of a hiker who had injured his ankle in the area of the East Ridge Trail at Mount Sanitas, just outside the City of Boulder.

The 32-year-old male, who was hiking with family members, injured his ankle on a rocky section of the trail and was unable to walk out. Members from the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District, and City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks Rangers provided first aid to the patient. The patient was carried out to S Cedar Brook Rd in a litter where he was transported to a Boulder area hospital by his wife. American Medical Response (AMR) also responded to assist with the incident.
