Boulder County, Colo. - On Monday, June 1, 2020 at approximately 8:40 a.m. the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a 22-year-old male who had had suffered injuries due to a fall outside of the City of Boulder. The patient, from Wayne, PA was found on the side of the First/Second Flatiron Trail by a hiker, who called 911. The patient was not fully able to describe what had happened to him.

Members of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks hiked to the patient, performed first aid, and then carried the him out in a litter. As the patient was being carried to the ambulance, he was in and out of consciousness. Once at the Bluebell Shelter, the patient was transferred to the ambulance and transported to a local hospital. The rescue took just under one hour.

Agencies assisting with this rescue effort included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response, City of Boulder Fire Department, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
