Purpose/Background

The Boulder County Commissioners signed a resolution in 2005 mandating the county take steps to become Zero Waste “or darn near” by 2025. In support of this mission, all county-owned buildings and properties operate as Zero Waste (ZW) facilities. The Boulder County Fairgrounds, owned and operated by Boulder County’s Parks and Open Space Department, is among these facilities. Each year, the 10-day Boulder County Fair is held at the Fairgrounds and coordinated by the Boulder County Fair Board. In past years, the ZW Initiative has been organizing by the Resource Conservation Division, who will manage the contract of these services for the 2020 Boulder County Fair.

The scope of work provided by the vendor will consist of the following responsibilities: waste stream quality assurance, coordination of volunteers, vendor education and compliance checks, Fair Board education and compliance checks, public education and outreach, tracking and reporting diversion data, organizing and managing on-site infrastructure, and promotion of the ZW initiative. These responsibilities are explained in greater detail under ‘Specifications’ on page 6.

Optional Pre-Proposal Meeting

There will be an Optional Pre-Proposal Meeting May 5, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.,

at the Boulder County Fairgrounds. Please arrive at the Exhibit Building using the South Entrance, at 9595 Nelson Road, Longmont, CO 80501.
