Short fall leads to minor injuries for hiker

A 23-year-old Longmont man fell approximately eight feet

Boulder, Colo. - At approximately 2:13 p.m today, the sheriff’s office was notified of a party who had fallen approximately eight feet from a rock on the south side of the First Flatironette. The hiker, a 23-year-old Longmont man, was with his brother, finishing their hike and were heading back to the Chautauqua Park parking lot when the accident occurred.

Members of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and rangers from Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks located the pair of hikers, performed first aid, and carried the injured hiker to the Bluebell Shelter. The man was subsequently transported for further medical treatment by personal vehicle. The rescue took approximately two-and-a-half hours.
