Boulder County Sheriff’s Office seeking volunteer Victim Impact Facilitators

Help inmates learn to recognize the impact of their behavior on others

Boulder County, Colo. - The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is currently recruiting volunteer Victim Impact Facilitators who want to make a difference and believe people can change. Work with the jail’s victim impact classes to help inmates learn to recognize the impact of their behavior on others. Be part of a program that makes a difference.

We are accepting volunteer applications until April 10, 2020. Victim Impact Facilitator training will be held in May/June. New facilitators will be paired with an experienced facilitator until fully trained.

Victim Impact classes run for eight weeks, meeting once per week for two hours. Additionally, two hours of preparation time, which includes reviewing inmate homework is required. All volunteers are asked to commit to joining the team for at least one year, attend monthly meetings to debrief, review new policies and participate in in-service training.

Facilitators should be able to manage discussion and present opposing viewpoints. Facilitators must be open and inviting, yet able to establish firm boundaries and respectfully confront denials, minimizations, justification and able to read class dynamics.
