The Child Health Promotion (CHP) Program offers a variety of classes for childcare providers. These classes are designed to increase the health and well-being of children in Boulder County.

Healthy Eating Active Living

  • Creating a Culture of Health at Your Childcare Program: This class covers increasing physical activity, improving nutritional practices and food quality, and engaging in staff wellness at your program.
  • Breastfeeding-Friendly Child Care: Learn how to improve breastfeeding support at your childcare program through training and achieving the 10 steps to becoming breastfeeding-friendly.
  • Toddler and Preschool Mealtime is More than Food: Learn how to encourage healthy eating, try new foods, and reduce stress and conflict at mealtime.
  • Nutrition and Mental Health: Learn how what you eat can affect how you feel.
  • Nutrition Consultation: Our Child Health Promotion dietitian can review menus, provide staff training, and answer nutrition questions.
  • Movement and Learning in Nature: Learn how to embed movement into daily routines to support health and brain development and improve behavior. Explore how to increase children’s connection to nature.
  • Colorado HEAL in Early Childhood Toolkit

Farm to Early Care & Education

Learn more about Farm to ECE, and work with us to design a program to match the needs and goals of your childcare program. Farm to ECE programs may include:

  • Sourcing local foods for school snacks and meals
  • Nutrition and/or garden-based curricula
  • School gardening
  • Cooking lessons and taste testing
  • Field trips to farms, farmers’ markets, and community gardens
