Veterinarian Assistance to Boulder County Public Health
Veterinarians play a critical role in the initiation of ensuing investigations and subsequent control measures by immediately reporting their findings to public health. Thus, you and your colleagues greatly enhanced our ability to rapidly implement prevention measures for zoonosis.
Veterinarian Reporting Requirements
The Colorado Board of Health requires requires veterinarians to report diseases in animals that “may endanger the public health” (6CCR 1009-1, Reg. 8). Since Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) and veterinarians have the common goal of protecting the health of those we serve, we are requesting veterinarians to report certain zoonotic conditions when diagnosed in animals.
