Assault on Deputy Results in Serious Bodily Injury
Boulder County, Colo. - On August 28, 2026, an inmate at the Boulder County Jail assaulted a deputy, resulting in serious bodily injury.
The incident occurred as the deputy was escorting the inmate up a stairwell. The inmate braced himself on the stair railing and used both feet to kick the deputy, causing the deputy to fall off the stairs and hit his back on a cinderblock wall, which resulted in the deputy breaking a bone.
Jail staff immediately responded and the inmate was secured in lockdown without further incident. The injured deputy was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
The inmate, Josephis Kwamane Wade (D.O.B. 07/26/1990), was charged with:
- 1st Degree Assault - Police Officer- Strong Arm - (F3) (18-3-202(1)(e))
- Obstructing Government Operations - (M2) (18-8-102)
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to the safety of its staff, inmates, and the community.
