Boulder County Recycling Center Celebrates 25 Years

Festivities start with showing of "The Lorax" on March 17

Boulder County, Colo. - The Boulder County Recycling Center (BCRC) is celebrating 25-years of operations in 2026 with several special events that will be held over the coming months. Public Works’ Resource Conservation Division (RCD) will host their first event, which is an open house and a free showing of the movie “The Lorax” based on the book by Dr. Seuss.

Free For All Ages
Tuesday, March 17
9 a.m. to noon
The Lorax (PG) will be shown in the Education Room starting at 10:30 a.m.

To sweeten the deal, free hot chocolate and coffee will be provided. Attendees will also be able to take self-guided tours and talk to RCD staff about the BCRC and their work. Staff from Wildfire Partners, the Keep It Clean Partnership (KICP), and the Louisville Public Library will host tables and share more information about their work.

“Celebrating 25 years of recycling is a testament to our community’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, localized service, and engagement,” said Public Works Deputy Director for RCD Cody Lillstrom. “The BCRC has helped divert tons of waste from landfills, conserve valuable resources, reduce pollution, and create local jobs. More than a recycling center, it stands as a model of sustainability and community collaboration – an inspiring example of what’s possible when we work together. Because of voter support for establishing the center and the continued support of community members through their dedicated recycling efforts, the BCRC is going strong and will continue to thrive for years to come.”
