Boulder County, CO – The Boulder County Clerk and Recorder’s office is preparing for a statewide Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles major digital upgrade beginning mid-February. The state is upgrading its entire system, including the public e-services website platform, myDMV.
To complete this upgrade, all online motor vehicle transactions and MV Express Kiosks statewide will be unavailable from Friday evening, February 13, through Monday, February 16 (Presidents Day). Additionally, to accommodate this change, all three Boulder County Clerk & Recorder – Motor Vehicle offices will open at 9 a.m. (instead of 7:30 a.m.) on Tuesday, February 17. The Clerk’s office anticipates longer transaction times as staff adjust to the new system.
Once live, the new system will feature a secure online customer portal for managing vehicle registration and driver’s license information, plus modernized tools that work faster and more intuitively on any device.
“Our Boulder County Motor Vehicle team has been heavily involved in the planning and design of the new statewide system,” stated Molly Fitzpatrick, Boulder County Clerk and Recporder. “I’m really proud of the work they have done to partner with the state to make improvements to the online platform. Residents will now be able to go paperless and get email notifications about their vehicle registration renewals among other integration improvements. Overall, this will really modernize the DMV experience for residents.”
The Boulder County Clerk & Recorder recommends that residents complete any vehicle transactions now at mydmv.colorado.gov and to schedule appointments for any in-person vehicle titling / registration needs soon as slots in the next two weeks may fill up. See BoulderCounty.gov/MV to book an appointment and visit the Colorado DMV website, DMV.Colorado.gov/mydmv to learn more about this exciting new upgrade and to learn all the benefits for our residents.
