A Proclamation Recognizing Transgender Day of Remembrance

Boulder County affirms its commitment to honoring the dignity, identities, and lived experiences of all members of the Boulder County community.

We recognize that transgender and nonbinary people are an integral part of the social, cultural, and civic fabric of Boulder County. Transgender and nonbinary individuals also continue to face disproportionate levels of discrimination, bias, and violence, threatening their safety and well-being.

Each year on November 20, people around the world observe Transgender Day of Remembrance. This solemn day honors the memory of those whose lives were taken by acts of anti-transgender violence and reminds us of the need to protect the rights and lives of transgender and nonbinary people.

Boulder County supports fair and equal treatment for all people, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. On this year’s Transgender Day of Remembrance, we encourage all residents to reflect, remember, and recommit to creating a world grounded in equity, understanding, and love.

We, the Boulder County Board of Commissioners, therefore proclaim November 20, 2025 as Transgender Day of Remembrance in Boulder County.

Dated November 18, 2025.

Commissioner Marta Loachamin
