Death Investigation – Parachuter in Unincorporated Boulder County
Boulder County, Colo. - Just after 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 16 the Boulder County Communications Center received a report of a parachuter in a field face down who was not breathing and not responsive. Deputies arrived first on scene, located in the 10,000 block of N. 75th St., shortly followed by Hygiene Fire. CPR efforts ensued but ultimately the 60-year-old male parachuter was pronounced deceased. A witness at the landing site across the street had observed the parachuter a few hundred feet above the ground descending quickly, in a spin and it appeared his parachute was not fully open. The parachuter was solo qualified to make jumps.
Detectives from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office are investigating jointly with the Boulder County Coroner’s Office. The Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
Responding agencies included the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder County Coroner’s Office, Hygiene Fire Protection District, and American Medical Response Ambulance.
The case is documented under case number 25-05555.
