Climber sustains life threatening injuries after a 70-foot fall in Eldorado Canyon State Park
Boulder County, Colo. -
Boulder County, Colo – On Sunday, November 2, 2025 at approximately 2:19 p.m., the Boulder County Communication Center received a report of a fallen climber who was unconscious in Eldorado Canyon State Park.
The 69-year-old male and his climbing partner were on the Chockstone climbing route. The male fell approximately 70 feet. Bystanders and rescuers performed CPR and the male regained a pulse.
Eldorado Canyon State Park employees, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and Mountain View Fire Protection District units responded to the call for help. Rescue units provided medical treatment and packaged the injured climber into a litter for evacuation down steep, loose terrain. The climber was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment. The technical rescue took approximately two hours.
Agencies assisting with the rescue included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Mountain View Fire Protection District, and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
