Stage 1 Fire Restrictions Rescinded for Western Unincorporated Boulder County
Boulder County, Colo. - Sheriff Curtis Johnson rescinded the Stage 1 fire restrictions that had been in place for western areas of unincorporated Boulder County since Aug. 11, 2025.
This decision was made after careful review of current fuel moisture conditions, long-term weather forecast, and fire activity. We will continue to monitor conditions and will reinstate fire restrictions should conditions necessitate it.
Residents are reminded that although the fire restrictions have been rescinded, caution should still be used when having a recreational fire. Additionally, there are still permit requirements in place for slash burning and agricultural burns, also known as prescribed fires or open burning. Go to the Boulder County Open Burning Portal to apply for a burn permit.
Residents in unincorporated Boulder County are also required to notify the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office prior to starting a permitted burn or agricultural burn by using the Open Burning Portal.
