Boulder County, Colo. – Wildfire Partners is proud to announce the piloting of a new Multi-Family Dwelling Rebate Program, offering financial support to Boulder County communities that take proactive steps to reduce wildfire risk by removing highly flammable juniper vegetation.
The rebate program provides up to $500 per multi-family household unit for qualifying wildfire mitigation projects, specifically the Junk Your Junipers campaign in neighborhood common areas.
The program is open to multi-family dwelling communities such as apartment, condo, or townhomes complexes throughout Boulder County including all municipalities and the City of Boulder. Eligible applicants include Homeowners Associations (HOAs) and property management companies, which must apply on behalf of the entire community.
“This new rebate program is a notable step forward for our county’s wildfire preparedness,” said Ashley Stolzmann, Boulder County Commissioner. “Junipers are one of the most combustible landscape plants in our region. By supporting communities in removing them, we’re making real progress toward creating fire-adapted neighborhoods.”
Wildfire Partners will provide expert assistance throughout the mitigation process. Once an application is approved, a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist will visit the property to identify and mark junipers for removal. Communities must then solicit three bids for the work, select a contractor, and complete the project by Oct. 27, 2025, to qualify for the rebate.
The pilot program reimburses juniper removal projects that begin after Aug. 11, 2025. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Oct. 10, 2025. Upon successful completion and verification of work, rebates will be mailed in approximately 8–10 weeks.
“This effort reflects the kind of community-wide coordination we need to build long-term wildfire resilience,” said Jim Webster, Wildfire Partners Program Manager “By working together, we can make our neighborhoods safer and more fire-ready.”

About Wildfire Partners
Wildfire Partners is a nationally recognized Boulder County government program designed to help residents prepare for wildfires. Technical and financial assistance is available to residents of the county through custom wildfire mitigation assessments and certification, grant funding, educational events, community programs, a free community chipping program, and youth mitigation crews helping vulnerable individuals and communities.
The rebate program is funded by the Wildfire Mitigation Sales Tax, approved by Boulder County voters in 2022. The tax supports a wide range of wildfire resilience efforts, including landscape-scale forest and grassland management, community-level mitigation planning, and parcel-level home hardening initiatives.

Junipers are highly combustible plants due to their volatile oils, dense growth, and retention of dead plant material. Having juniper bushes near your home increases the likelihood it will be impacted by wildfire.
