Subscribe to CDOT construction updates including closures and detours that affect cyclists, motorists and pedestrians
Boulder County, Colo. - For the latest information on the CO 119 Safety, Mobility & Bikeway Improvements Project Update, view the CDOT CO 119 Traffic Update for April 27 to May 3. Project updates include:
Niwot Road Median Full Closure
The Niwot Road median at CO 119/Diagonal Highway will be closed to all modes of transportation from 9 p.m., Monday, April 28, through 5 a.m., Wednesday, May 7. This closure is required for bikeway underpass construction.
During the closure, Niwot Road and CO 119/Diagonal Highway will be configured as a right-in-right-out intersection. There will not be a separate signed detour in place for cyclists. Cyclists are encouraged to use an alternate route while the closure is in place.
Niwot Road Median Closure Motorist Detour
- Westbound travelers will head north on CO 119/Diagonal Highway, use Airport Road to get on southbound CO 119/Diagonal Highway, and exit onto westbound Niwot Road.
- Eastbound travelers will head south on CO 119/Diagonal Highway, turn left onto Colorado Highway 52, and turn left onto northbound 79th Street to return to eastbound Niwot Road.
Temporary Closure of RTD Bus Stop on Southbound CO 119 at Niwot Road
Beginning Monday, April 28, lasting through Wednesday, May 7, the RTD bus stop on southbound CO 119 at Niwot Road (stop #18095) will be temporarily closed. The bus stop closure is required while project crews construct a bikeway underpass in the Niwot Road median. Travelers are advised to use the bus stop on southbound CO 119 at Monarch Road (stop #24826) instead.
Right Shoulder Closures
From Monday, April 28, to Friday, May 2, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be various right shoulder closures on southbound Colorado Highway 119/Diagonal Highway, between Jay Road and Hover Street, for traffic signal work.
Respect the Cone Zone
As you travel through the construction zone, please stay in designated traffic areas. The construction site is strictly off-limits for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. Entering between barriers or cones at any time is extremely unsafe for travelers and project crews. Law enforcement is on site regularly to monitor traffic, and fines are doubled in the construction zone.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as crews work diligently to complete this project as safely and efficiently as possible.
